This portrait is of my daughter Emma, painted in oils from a photo taken of her on a hot, sunny day in Central Park, New York. I wanted to capture the warmth of the sun and the light on her face and the shadows cast by the strands of hair. I like that you can see how she loves her nails! I had fun with the background which is more abstracted and done with a palette knife.
This is oil on a wooden panel which I coated first with clear gesso which I was experimenting with for the first time.
If you would like me to paint a portrait of or for you, please see my Commissions page.
