The Dutch Masters of the 1600s excelled at still life painting and many objects had a symbolic meaning. Choosing the objects, the composition, the lighting is an art in itself. Even a simple egg can carry a lot of meaning, a symbol of life, the perfect shape, you can make so many different things from it - you can even paint with it!
