Substance & Sensitivity

These cradled panels, each measuring 4x12 inches and painted in oils on a blueish grey background, quietly came together for an exhibition in Cheltenham at the Gardens Gallery. 

I like to draw out the beauty of an object by treating it like a portrait, giving it space to become the hero. I am not trying to paint a hyper-realistic piece, I prefer to leave some information for the viewer to complete. In this way the painting becomes more of a conversation and I believe this helps us to slow down, notice and appreciate it even more.

The panels work on their own or in pairs or as a group. Some can also be hung horizontally or vertically, so you can have fun arranging them as you like. The Mackerel for example could be one above the other or nose to nose or vertically side by side.
